a day in my digital life

A DAY IN MY DIGITAL LIFE

Technology plays a big part of my life. As a university student who works in telecommunications and is just a girl living in a Gen Z world, I use technology for everything. The first thing I do when I wake up is turn off my alarm, then immediately check my bible app for my verse of the day, followed by my emails.

Depending on the day of the week, I'm either on campus at Uni or at work, so I would check my emails for both because any information or updates I need will be in my emails; as someone who writes lists for absolutely everything I utilise the notes app on my iPhone, I use apps like UKG, teams and authenticator when I'm at work lol. As I mentioned, I work in telecommunications as a sales consultant at Telstra, so my job is pretty much technology 24/7; I use systems such as Salesforce, Siebel, MNC, etc., to an average person, those do not make sense, but to me, these are my holy grails and bread and butter as a Telstra retail consultant.

When I'm not at work, I'm at university and using my laptop for my studies. Whether on or off campus, I'm often using Canvas, Teams, Word doc, and One Notes. These apps are pretty much everything I require to do my university work. I recently discovered how helpful OneNote is and have stopped neglecting it.

I am a big social media user. I use apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok. All these apps are used in everyday life. No matter where I am, I’m always going to be using social media; apart from messages and calls, these are my main sources of interaction with my friends. Social media is a growing part of society, and I often feel myself getting caught up in it, so I take breaks such as deactivating or deleting apps when needed.
Apart from Social media and other apps mentioned, I have my day-to-day apps, such as internet banking, Google Maps, online shopping apps such as Shein or White Fox, and the occasional Netflix app. These apps may not seem significant, but I would be affected if they weren’t used. In conclusion, just like everyone else, I use digital technologies daily and would be in shambles without technology.
